The King Arthur Show

Long Live The King!

 Updated 7-28-10

I can't say I like many elected officials these days but Atlantic County Frank Balles is

one elected official who is doing an outstanding job. The Atlanic County Sheriff is

holding his Fundraising Golf Tournament today at Blue Heron Pines Golf Course in

Galloway Township. April Kauffman is there and will have a detailed report on

today's show. We also will have John Heims with a report on the eve of Thursday's

Post Position Draw for Sunday's Million Dollar Haskell Stakes at Monmouth Park in

Oceanport, New Jersey, featuring Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver vs. Preakness

winner Lookin at Lucky.

7-27-10

Came out blazing on the 1st show with Dave Bontempo and John Heims with a

report from Monmouth Park for Sunday's Izod Haskell Stakes.

Everyone is a critic. I heard everything from it didn't sound like you to you were too

easy on the callers or I didn't ask tough enough questions.

The beautiful thing with Live Radio or TV is that there are no Do-Overs. It's Live and

That's It. And Try To Do It Better The Next Day.

Today's show will feature former Atlantic City Mayoral Candidate and Police Officer

Dave Tayoun who has some very interestesting comments on the proposed state

takeover of the Casino District in A.C.

Also another report on the Haskell from Monmouth Park

1. The CRDA (Casino Reinvestment Development Authority) announced they are giving 5 Million to a training center at ACC for Casino Employees? Does the CRDA realize the Atlantic City Boardwalk is falling apart and that over 3,300 jobs were cut in the casino industry during the last 12 months alone? Why won't CRDA do anything to help Atlantic City prosper? After wasting 25 years and nearly 2 BILLION in projects the CRDA continues to waste these funds. They should simply let casino operators spend their own money. I bet AC would be a much more of a "Destination Resort" if revenues generated in the City were allowed to stay here.

2. Does anyone ever read the Press of Atlantic City Web Site? It is pretty good in breaking local news but the racist nature of the comments after every story is disconcerting.

3. It's been 3 years since those 4 hookers were killed and laid to rest in the same place near a West AC Motel. No arrests or possible suspects have been executed in this case.

4. New Jersey Governor elect Chris Christie is talking tough but let's see what happens in January. I have not been thrilled with some of Christie's cabinent choices including a former McGreevey cabinent member heading his transition team. Seems like Same old Same old to me.

5. While Sarah Palin is very attractive and some call her a Rock Star, she hasn't impressed King Arthur on the "Going Rogue" Book Took. She simply doesn't appear to be the brightest bulb in the box and felt she was intimiated by some interviewers; not exactly 2012 Preisdential material.

6. Don't feel sorry for billionairess Oprah Winfrey as her show leaves the airwaves in 2011. Oprah did it to herself when she became the most famous Barrack Obama supporter in the USA. If Oprah's ratings hadn't tanked since the election she would not be going anywhere.

KING ARTHUR'S ENDORSEMENTS

CHRIS CHRISTIE

GOVERNOR OF NEW JERSEY

JOSEPH POLILLO

MAYOR OF ATLANTIC CITY

VOTE NO OPEN SPACE

BALLOT QUESTION 1

9-28-2009

WHAT'S KING ARTHUR'S BEEF?

1. The same problems the U.S. faced under former President George W. Bush have not been corrected and are worse. Unemployment has never been higher and Afghanistan is about to be lost if Obama doesn't follow General McChrystal's advice of a troop surge of 30-40,000 additional troops.

2. Is it Journalism for Larry King among others to interview Blood Thirsty Dictators and Legitimize their Terrorist Views?

3. Ironic that the Corrupt ACORN are using Taxpayers Money to place a lawsuit and sue James and Hannah the undercover Pimp and Prostitute who busted ACORN for many felonys with investigative journalism.

4. Why are people so shocked the Woman implanted with the wrong embryo followed through with the pregnancy and gave the baby back to the woman of the embryo. I assume not one of these people have ever heard of someone being Pro Life?

5. I guess the G20 summit Irate AnArcharist Protestors did not receive the Memo that Obama was President and everything is Great.

6. Iran Tested Long Range Missiles Today while Obama has given Iran an Oct 1 deadline to come clean. It's a shame President Bush was too afraid politically to blow up the nuclear facitilites in Iran.

7. Is Independent candidate Chris Daggett for New Jersey Governor working for Jon Corzine? After seeing a recent TV AD ridiculing Chris Christie it is pretty apparent Daggett and Corzine are a team.

8. Why does New Jersey have the 2nd Lowest Divorce Rate in the nation? Guessing since NJ's Property Taxes are the highest in the country for the 5th consecutive year no one can afford legal counsel.

9. Political Stunt or Real Help? A very wet summer in South Jersey has ruined the crops washing away herbicides and saturating fields costing one Mullica River Farmer $50,000. Corzine has requested 15 NJ counties be declared disaster areas by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture which would allow farmers to apply for low-interest loans.

10. France has come out strongly that the U.S. arrested Roman Polanski on a 31-year Warrant in a child rape case in which he raped a 13-yearold girl who has since forgiven the Filmaker. I believe child predators should be given the death penalty however this case is very old and for the US to be wasting time on this with so many other problems in the world is mindboggling.

11. Great Police work by the FBI and company to bust 27 hookers in Atlantic City and 4 Massage Parlors in Pleasantville. Wow what great work to waste Taxpayer's money on busting often consentual adults who are conducting business and should be taxed instead of clogging up the courts with these victimeless crimes. When are we going to ever stop arresting people who are doing things on a consentual basis? Call me Morally Bankrupt if you will but individuals in America should have the freedom to do what they want as long as no one is a victim of any real crime. With stabbings killings and casino patrons getting mugged in parking lots and without K-9DOGS still suspended the Atlantic City Police Force is busy busting Hookers? who have Patroled Pacific Avenue for as long as the Cops have.

12. The Eagles beat the Chiefs with their backups as McNabb Westbrook and Curtis were all out. What a bad team KC is. Kevin Kolb looked much better than in Week 2 avoiding the costly turnovers which have plagued him throughout his brief NFL career. Desean Jackson's 64-yard Touchdown catch was capped off with a Dramatic Flip and Stradle Split in the endzone by DJ who's groin appears just fine; what an exciting player.

As a 42-year resident of Atlantic City my patience is thinning with city politics so much so it may be really time to LEAVE as taxes increase and city officials are more concerned with their own pocketbooks, their own political agendas and instead of concerning themselves with out of the box ideas that could aid in the casino industry's waning revneues or maybe doing something about property taxes. A Re Val of the Re Val: When AC officials finally got around to assessing property values they did so at the peak of the Market. City Council just approved nearly 1 Million in tax appeal defeats with many more to come. Mayor Lorenzo Langford has done zero to help tax payers and everything to cause potential future litigation. The man is up for election and Atlantic City needs to come together over whoever his opposition is.

1. In the Thursday Press Conference Langford's video evidence to show an incident of K9 Abuse on the Beach was laughable. The video was from 2005 and it is not clear on the muted tape what exactly is going on. There are seemingly hundreds of people on the beach which is obviously why the dog was called in.

2. Showing K9 dog bites ( do we even know they were caused by AC Police Dogs?) when no one knows of the entire circumstances of the bites which is completely misleading.

3. Why wouldn't you discipline or suspend the firemen, police officers or dogs who are under investigation? Why would you suspend the entire unit or go public when not necessary?

4. Guesss it was embarrrassing for Langford when an AC K9 Dog took 1st Prize in a Nationwide contest.

5. Why did Langford open up a can of worms by calling a press conference about the AC Fire Department sex scandal in the 1st place to throw out allegations when they were still being investigated.

6. The "victims" of the Fire House Sex Scandal were so traumatized they waited a month to file a police report.

7. The Firemen's actions are disgraceful if true but if there was a 19-year-old there isn't she considered an adult and shouldn't she have taken some responsibility for the younger females since she technically is an adult. The County Prosecutor filed now charges because the events were considered consentual.

8. Why would the Mayor aid individuals to sue the city? He helped the victims in the firehouse case by going public with rumors and now with fireman Williams suspended and potentially terminated if he is found innocent of the charges he is more than likely to sue the City also.

9. The City would be much better off if only Langford spent half the time on real issues like:

a. Getting the Sandcastle Stadium ready for revenue generating events

b. Having a plan to cut property taxes

c. Doing anything positive for the city other than meddling in the Police and Fire Departments in cases which should have been handled privately by an internal affair component which is in place for that very reason.

d.Halting More Hiring when a Freeze is in effect.

Atlantic City never ceases to amaze me. The New Jersey Attorney General announced this week that Marty Small, an AC Councilman, was indicted along with many others as apparently Small and company were into manufacturing messenger ballots with what they called signing parties. I like Marty Small as a person. He has always treated me with the utmost respect but this whole election fraud scandal aside Small campaigned as an honest broker but in his political ads he suggested that his opponent current Mayor Lorenzo Langford was inline with the Calloway faction.

When in fact as it is now clearly apparent it was Small who was in bed with the Calloways. Small was sadly relying on a team of former Craig Calloway (convicted former AC Council President) soliders who were working for Small in an attempt to steal away the June AC Mayor Democratic Primary. Not only Calloway soliders but Calloway family members as well.

When you sleep with dogs more times than not you will get fleas and Marty Small needs 10 flea collars cause he's associated with some dirty infected insects. Small was lucky enough to win a case vs. voter fraud once this time it doesn't appear going in that Small will be so lucky as his Army of Election Workers will likely turn on him as quickly as they have turned on everyone who has dealt with the Calloway faction. Sadly Small had some innovative ideas for the city but at this point he should resign his 2nd-Ward Council Seat as he has clearly violated the public trust and soiled what appeared to be a very good reputation in the community. Being Mayor of Atlantic City has been Marty Small's Dream since he was a young man although getting to his goal is ending up being his worst nightmare.

Wow Where To Begin? The summer is nearly over. It has been an agonizing time for Americans with so many new socialist programs being rammed down the American People's Throats. HardWorking Americans who disagree with this administration are being called racists or nazis. HR 3200 is the Health Care Reform Bill which is available to be read online but when informed Americans read the bill and ask their elected officials in townhall meetings about a certain aspect of the bill they are being called misguided by officials who haven't read the bill themselves. What is misguided are the sheeple known as the American People. When will we wake up and take back this great nation? As 911 approaches for the 8th anniversary without another domestic attack occurring many have forgotten that nightmarish day. Many embolden the enemy with their AntiAmerican ProTerrorist rhetoric. Can you imagine even having the fortitude to attempt to prosecute those that have kept us safe in the days and months and now years after 9-11-01 but that is exactly what Obama's Attorney Genral Eric Holder is doing. The Heath Care Reform Bill is a joke. No tort reform is covered. An essential element that makes doctors retire early or pay such high malpractice premiums that it makes no sense for them to be in business. How can we cover 45 Million additional people (notice I didn't say U.S. citizens) when there is currently a shortage of medical professionals? This is not about white or black, rich or poor, it's about our freedom to choose what we want as Americans and we don't want this. This HR 3200 Bill is the biggest intrusion into our personal lives in the history of US government and for those who do not believe it and think "Oh Obama wouldn't do that." will be the 1st ones crying when they are personally affected by inferior rationed care. The Democrats can pass HR 3200 by themselves but let us all pray that they won't.

NEW TIMES; ADDED DAYS

The King Arthur Show is expanding to 3 days per week and doubling our air time to 4 hours per week.

The King would like to thank WIBG 1020 management for realizing how hard we work to create the best hour of radio in the market.

Thanks to Production Manager Josh Hennig, who does an extraordinary job on his own program, "Josh Hennig Uncensored" Broadcast Sundays 2-4 pm on WIBG 1020.

My co-host Bill Leconey, is a superb journalist and broadcaster in his own right, who has been with me in 2009 for the majority of my Sunday shows and will join me during some of my additional hours.

The Vice-President of Broadcasting Operations Harry Hurley, "The Mayor of the Morning", is the reason I came to WIBG. Being a listener of Harry's through the years made me appreciate talk radio even more. Especially when the "Hurley in the Morning" show breaks more local news than any show in the market. Whether I agree or disagree with Harry on a certain issue or topic, there always is a fair debate and he is truly the Truth in Broadcasting.

Certainly the added days and times come with added responsibilities. I truly hope the listeners of WIBG 1020 will enjoy my presentation of the King Arthur Show now heard Sunday Monday and Tuesday afternoons, but will also support my sponsors, who's commercials will be broadcast during my broadcasts. Without the support of both listeners and advertisers, this show can and will not be a success. The King Arthur Show intends to deliver the goods each afternoon to our vast listening audience.

As always, The King Arthur Show promises the Most Action-Packed Talk Radio in New Jersey and I believe we produce on a consistent basis. South Jersey and the World, we want you to be involved in this show, whether you agree or disagree with our views, your input is always appreciated at 609-398-1020. Thanks again to WIBG radio station owner and awesome NewsMan Rick Brancadora for allowing me the opportunity to broadcast my show on such a powerful AM signal.

CAN'T BELIEVE THE RECENT ELECTION RESULTS;

I AM ALWAYS ON THE WRONG SIDE

As someone, who at one time in my life could care less about world current events and politics. I was a Sports Section 1st-and-only person.

The 911 tragedy punched me right in the stomach.

Not only because my office was 3 blocks from Ground Zero, but because I personally knew people who could not withstand the mental anguish of reliving that horrific day everyday when walking by the open space that once was a massive structure known as the World Trade Center.

Someone I knew very well quit her job, she was a 9-5 employee, who had to endure being evacuated on 911, not knowing if other airplanes were headed for more buildings in Lower Manhattan on that sunny Tuesday Morning in 2001.

Recently elected President Barack Obama shockingly mocked 911 as I woke up Thursday morning to one of his plethora of speeches this week, shockingly saying The United States overreacted to 911.

Who elected Obama anyway? How could any American Hater win the presidential election so decisively? What country am I living in?

That brings me to last Tuesday's election results, where Atlantic City must love how it's government is working as incumbent Mayor Lorenzo Langford nearly doubled the vote total of his 2 opponents combined.

Langford's landslide victory can not be true. How can the people of Atlantic City love what is going on in City Hall?

The malfunctioning Atlantic City government during the last decade has mostly been because of the inept management of Langford and City Council.

Despite having 11 casinos and every retail shop in the world currently in Atlantic City, amazingly not once in 31 years of casino gambling have property taxes decreased.

Bader Field should been developed, sold or leased by now. The Re-evaluation of properties was finally accomplished at the peak of the market. The boardwalk in certain areas are in a state of disrepair. Atlantic City has no security cameras. The Surf Stadium was allowed to fall apart, where no events can be held there. The City made deals with outfits like Pinnacle, which detsroyed the middle half of town and many local businesses. Did I mention the property taxes doubled in 2009 in Atlantic City?

And the voters of Atlantic City in mandate fashion want Langford back?

I am puzzled and deeply saddened by what I see.

And it just may be time despite living in Atlantic City for most of my 41 years, to get out of town.

I just can't see enduring 4 more years of the same horrible government. The government that squandered it's nest egg, while other states did not have casino gambling, Atlantic City stumbled. Where is Sports Betting? Or Family Attractions in Atlantic City? Or any out of the box solutions that would make Atlantic City unique.

I am expected to believe this group of politicans will get Atlantic City back on track?

Recession or no recession, like it or not, the Atlantic City gambling market has peaked. We need to cut the size of government dramatically, lower an obscene 200M budget and cut out City Cars and Cell Phones unless absolutely necessary.

The recent elections have made me completely disillusioned to the point of not wanting to vote anymore, especially in Atlanic City, where recent arrests for voter fraud just make me think how many more fraudulent votes were cast that were not caught by the Attorney General of New Jersey and does my vote even count anymore?

I am disgusted. While I love Atlantic City, the stupidity of the voters and government have me seeking alternative measures.

BOREL BLEW IT IN BELMONT STAKES ON MINE THAT BIRD

Pretty dumb that Calvin Borel didn't have a mount at Belmont Park the whole day prior to the Belmont Stakes, while Borel's last mount before riding Mine That Bird today was last Sunday at Churchill Downs.

Borel sure looked pretty shaky off the week layoff, moving prematurely with a 1-run dead closer, a move Borel used up. Give him credit for that 'Derby ride/win, but he nearly blew the Preakness with Rachel Alexandra and blew The Belmont Stakes on 'Derby winner Mine That Bird.

Hard to salute the winning-rider Kent Desormeaux, who often doesn't ride out horses to complete bottom half of exotic finishes daily and while a talented Hall of Fame rider, is too arrogant and the Big Brown fiasco in 2008 still smells.

Summer Bird, the Belmont Stakes winner, like Mine That Bird, is sired by Birdstone.

No Justice Served In Shaver Case

When 87-year-old Mildred Petrone went shopping at Absecon Shoprite on Friday morning August 11, 2006, I am sure the last thing on her mind was being killed in the parking lot by a 30-year-old Giant of a Man named Robert Shaver, a lifelong criminal, who finally went too far.

Shaver was about to go to trial this week for not only being responsible for the death of Mildred Petrone, but for the attack of two other elderly woman during August of 2006.

A supermarket parking lot, often thought of as a safehaven, was all of a sudden a crime scene.

For Robert Shaver, it was a place to knock senior citizen women over the head, steal their purse and leave them lying in a pool of blood in the parking lot.

It was a broken neck in the case of Mildred Petrone, who would be 90 years old today.

After the shocking parking lot incident, there was buzz over that weekend on how unsafe it was for seniors to shop alone.

But nothing was going to stop Shaver's madness, who's getaway car was a stolen vehicle from a restaurant's Valet Parking lot.

Shaver was the No. 1 Atlantic County Senior Citizen Terrorist.

After killing Petrone on Friday afternoon, Shaver was back at it Monday at noon.

Going right back to the scene of his murder of Mildred Petrone, Shaver mugged a 79-year-old woman in the same Absecon ShopRite Parking Lot.

According to reports from 4 eye witnesses, Shaver stole the senior's purse and left her with 2 black eyes and a bloody nose.

Not even 2 hours later, Shaver mugged 65-year-old Irene Russo in the parking Lot of an Italian Restaurant in Northfield. This time Shaver was armed, admitting in court that he did in fact have a gun on him during that crime.

The dispicable acts Shaver participated in should have not only resulted in the minimum of a life sentence, but the Death Penalty, which ended in 2007 under Gov. Corzine's signature.

If there was ever a case where the Death Penalty should return, it is this one, where a 30-year-old over 350-pound man mugged and eventually killed an innocent senior citizen women, who was fortunate enough at her advanced age to be out and about, still driving and particpating in life.

Shaver not only cut the life of Mildred Petrone short, who died 5 days after the attack, but the lives of the other 2 women mugged by this coward, who obviously couldn't have been the same since the attacks occurred.

Shockingly, Last Tuesday, the Atlantic County Prospecutor's Office accepted Shaver's guilty plea to aggravated manslaughter instead of felony murder, which would carry a life sentence.

The Plea Deal will recommend a 25-year sentence for Shaver, who would be just 55 years old when released.

Clearly old enough to terrorize the community again with a series of Parking Lot Muggings on Atlantic County's Elderly.

Shaver also pleaded guilty to 3 robberies, but the Agreement calls for concurrent sentences, meaning Shaver isn't really charged for those other crimes.

Shaver did it and he admitted to doing it.

Showing no remorse and then wanting to represent himself in court as his own attorney, Shaver deserves the worst possible punishment, not the least.

If the Atlantic County Prospecutor's office wanted justice served, absolutely no plea deal should have ever been offered.

If they had 4 eye witnesses to one of the muggings, Shaver was toast in court.

You are going to bring a 350-pound skin-head looking guy into a courtroom. Show one picture of 1 of the victims and this guy is going away for life. For Shaver to be let back into our society sickens me. God willing, I will be 63 when he gets out, will I be his next victim or you?

There is no justice in this case. No closure as suggested by the Assistant Atlantic County Prosecutor.

A violent lifelong criminal keeps getting breaks by a broken criminal justice system. That is the case of Robert Shaver.

The only proper justice for Robert Shaver's actions is the same result of his vicious assault and eventual death of 87 year old Mildred Petrone in that Shoprite Parking Lot 3 summers ago. Shaver's should have to pay with his own Life.

LONEGAN BEING PORTRAYED IN ADS AS SOMETHING HE'S NOT

It is amazing what a million dollars in Tv and Radio Ads and RoboCalls can make turn White into Black. Good Into Bad and Sunny Into Rainy.

As King Arthur speculates on what maybe could have been. As an opportunity arose for me to run as Councilman-at-Large for the City of Atlantic City. Whan approached about it, this current radio show was in the works and I did not think now would be the best time to run personally. Well maybe I was wrong. I am not a big fan of re-electing current city officials, who have gotten Atlantic City into the mess it's in. Current Councilman George Tibbett is the only person I know who is running in the current Council election, who I would trust and Tibbett appears to be one of the few Council People who stand up for the people. Politics aside, Tibbett doing a flip flop going from endorsing Marty Small to Lorenzo Langford for Mayor, Tibbett is the clearly the best candidate running for Council and maybe it is my ignornance as an Atlantic City Voter, but 2 more candidates in the Demcratic Party will make it through and be the prohibitive favorites to win in November and compose seats on the 9-person branch.  I just don't think there's anyone else running who would be as competent as me.

Then I say to myself wait. What about what they are doing to Steve Lonegan. Here is a guy , who is running for Governor on the New Jersey Republican Side, for as long as I have known of him has been a Fighter for The Tax Payer and even wrote a book on putting Tax Payers FIRST. He is being portrayed in Chris Christie Ads as a Tax Raiser. Ask the general person on the street who Steve Lonegon is and they will say he is the one who is raising taxes on 70% of New Jersians and 75% of Seniors in the state.

Lonegan is the only candidate who has a comprehensive plan to end the many abuses there are statewide from COAA to the Abbott School Districts. Even the most ardent Lonegon supporter would have to 2nd guess, is Steve going to raise my taxes? Christie has been playing dirty and he doesn't appear very trustworthy. His recent ads suggesting Jon Corzine will smear him goes along with the terrority Mr. Christie, the way your campaign has been vicious in making Steve Lonegan someone he is not.

This reminds me of the Jim Whelan Kirk Conover State Senate race, where the ads made Conover look like a Tax Cheat when the truth is Conover never owed taxes in the 1st place. But the ads were relentless and Conover was defeated.

Christie has made Lonegan look like a Tax Raising Fool when just the opposite is the truth.

LONEGAN CRUSHES CHRISTIE IN 2ND DEBATE

Steve Lonegan knocked Chris Christie around like a punching

bag in a Republican Primary Governor's Race Debate televised

Sunday. It was the last of 2 TV debates. King Arthur gave

Lonegan the slight edge last Tuesday, but Sunday it was all

Lonegan. Christie could not answer a direct question on how

he would specifically cut taxes and I don't think anyone with

an ounce of sense believes Christie's false radio ads that

Lonegon, a long-time Fighter for Tax Payers would raise

taxes on 70%  of New Jersey residents and theChristie camp

attempts to scare seniors by saying Lonegan wants to take

their home rebate. Lonegan was strong and Christie was

weak. The 2 radio debates will have a lesser impact and the

last image of Lonegan crushing Christie in  the final TV

debate may have pushed the surging in the polls former

Mayor of Bogata, Steve Lonegan.

OBAMA TRICKS HOME OWNERS

From the Associated Press:

MIAMI – The number of U.S. households faced with losing their homes to foreclosure jumped 32 percent in April compared with the same month last year, with Nevada, Florida and California showing the highest rates, according to data released Wednesday.

More than 342,000 households received at least one foreclosure-related notice in April.

KING ARTHUR'S COMMENTARY: President Barack Obama gave every home owner, who was behind on the mortgage and headed into forecloseure the confidence that everything would be just fine. "Barack is going to save us from losing our home."

Well hardly anyone qualifies for the "Obama Mortgage Relief Plan" while the banks are keeping all the Bailout Money without lending any to us.

All of those people, who stopped paying their mortgages when Obama was campaigning were all tricked by Obama's false promise of saving people's foreclosed homes. Gas Prices are over $2 per gallon and the retail sales numbers were way down. What's up Barack? Time to stop blaming Bush for everything wrong and start doing something more than spending us into obilvion and doing these phony press conferences once a month.

Steve Lonegan-Chris Christie 1ST Rep. Governor Debate

Both opening statements were weak. Christie looked immense on TV. He looked down too many times for my liking and said nothing, ripping Governor Corzine, who is the easiest of targets.

Lonegan started strong, then stumbled when mixing up the Republican and Democratic Parties. Lonegan was strong saying the Property Tax Relief program is a scam. Christie did not blame the Property Tax Relief Program, instead blaming Corzine and former Gov. McGreevey.

Lonegan scared every state worker saying he would cut New Jersey Government immediately.

Christie has a huge zit on his right cheek.

Lonegan said cutting jobs by 15,000 is needed, not just line-item vetoing as Christie mentioned as a solution.  Lonegan talked about his Flat Tax, but for some reason they did not let Chrstie rebutt Lonegon's point.

Lonegan ripped Christie for not being re-elected as Freeholder, Christie said Lonegon did not understand that he did not get renominated, because he fought the status quo just like he did when he was U.S. Attorney.

Lonegan is against gay marriage, but said he would support a ballot quesion. Christie said he would veto gay marriage. Christie said he and Lonegan would campaign together against same-sex marriage.

On the monitor pay to play issue of no-bid contracts, Christie looked very weak not answering the question directly, then looking weak when Lonegon suggested Corzine will be happy to explain to voters how Christie's judgement was poor in this area.

They showed a side view of Christie, he is double the size of Lonegan.

Christie said he will cut taxes across the board just like Ronald Reagen did. Lonegan ripped Christie for having an income redistribution plan, which is not a conservative principle.  Christie ripped Lonegan's Flat Tax theory using the 70% number of New Jersey residents facing a tax hike under the Lonegan plan. Lonegan explained his side. This tax question is confusing. Both sides are saying completely different things.

Christie ripped Lonegan for eliminating the Property Tax Relief Fund, but Lonegan says he will get rid of the Abbott School Districts, which is true property tax relief.

Christie mentioned Steve Forbes as an advocate and Lonegan mentioned Steve Forbes was for the bailout.

Lonegan said his Flat Tax eliminates the income tax and small business tax.

Lonegan ripped Christie for his ever-changing positions on the Council on Affordable Housing. Then Christie said Lonegan is making it up as he goes along, that he has not had changing positions on COAA and he wants to eliminate it.

Lonegan said under his administration the private sector will flourish, so state employees being unemployed should not be an issue.

Christie was effecive in ripping Corzine calling NJ Broke and a Third World Nation, then ripped Lonegan for raising taxes.

Christie calls for Democrats to stop spending, then to the theory Ronald Reagen-Jack Kemp of cutting all taxes for everyone. Lonegan was weak in response quoting Ronald Reagen, then Christie uses the 70% number of taxes raised and 75% of senior citizens taxes raised effectively. Christie calls himself a Tax Cutter, while Lonegan is a Tax Raiser? What is Christie talking about? Didn't Lonegan write a book and has been a fighter for Tax Payers forever?

Christie left the crowd laughing when he couldn't get to his last point on Health Care, where he appeared more effective than Lonegon on this issue.

If Lonegan isn't wearing a toupee it sure looks like it and he could use a new one.

Christie looked good when mentioned corrupt politician Wayne Bryant is going to jail this summer because he brought him down as U.S. Attornry. Christie is terrific being all over Corzine's awful administration for allowing double dipping.

Chrsitie hit it out of the park on the final internet question about state-sponsored Pre-Kindergarten. Lonegan ripped Christie for being an advocate of a longer school day and a longer school year, then Christie looked weak defending that point.

Lonegan was terrific in his closing, explaining his plan to give real New Jersey Tax Relief not what Christie proposes. Christie thanked everyone in the world wasting the valuable 60-second time for his closing. Christie mentioned he was born in Newark and talked about his family some more. Christie looked down several time in an obviously prepared and awful close.

FINAL SUMMARY: Either candidate would be OK, but Lonegan I think won this debate by a slight margin. Interesting that after the debate Christie jumped up and shook the hands of all the debate questioneers, while Lonegan just stood there awkwardly. Lonegan will need a more impressive showing Sunday morning to win this thing being the underdog.

3 WEEKS REMAINING AND NEARLY READY TO RUMBLE

It is Crunch Time in the Primary Races for Governor of New Jersey and Mayor of Atlantic City. The Republican Primary for Govenor has been nasty as Steve Lonegan has been cutting into the massive early lead Chris Christie built up after winning every county endorsement. Lonegon's supporters have been "In Your Face" and went on the attack vs. Christie early and often in this campaign. Todd Christie's shady Wall Street dealings, the Pay-to-Play Christie has been involved in and some have called him "Too Fat" to represent the masses. Lonegon, who is down 6-1 in money left in the campaign 3M to $500,000, has felt the wrath of recent Christie negative radio ads, suggesting Lonegan's Flat Tax idea will raise taxes on 70% of New Jersey residents and that Lonegon raised taxes as Mayor of Bogota.

Lonegan clearly has earned my respect as his "Tax Payer Minute commercials heard during the last few years on radio were crisp, decisive, sharp commentaries relating strongly to many New Jersey conservatives with a candidate they could all believe in.

Tuesday night is the 1st of 2 debates between the candidates, where Lonegan will need have a massive showing, while more importantly Christie will have to slip up in a big way for him to lose the lead. Next Sunday morning at 11 am is debate 2. This week will be huge for many New Jersey Republican voters on who the next Governor will be.

There is no doubt in my mind Lonegan is the better candidate, but Christie has been the annointed one for a long time and realistically he just may be too tough to catch.

In Atlantic City, Marty Small and incumbent Mayor Lorenzo Langford square off in the Democratic Primary for Mayor. Langford still owes the city over $180,000 from a settlement he won, but signed off on himself, creating a massive conflict of interest. Then instead of keeping the settlement money in escrow until thing became unscrambled, he spent the cash along with City Council President Speedy Marsh, who still owes the city over $350,000 and last week was smacked down by Judge Valerie Armstrong whem Marsh had the nerve to attempt to reduce his repayment schedule for the money he stole from the city he represents and was Mayor for a short time.

Small was a great basketaball player and as 2nd Ward Councilman he is more known as the guy, who promoted the "Small Ball" which brought celebrities to Atlantic City, but there were parking and security issues during some of Small's events and one was shut down prematurely due to a rowdy crowd.

David Tayoun is the other candidate. Tayoun is a former Cop, who has good ideas, but has a current lawsuit pending against the City when fired from a City Position. The lawsuit is hard for me to stomach. Tayoun is a fresh face among Langford and Small, who have clearly been a part of the current problem in Atlantic City. The current elected officials have never displayed any foresight on how the City would look in 10 years and have raised the taxes every year despite more develpoment in the city than anyone could ever imagine. Now with the recession and other recent major cities getting casino gamling, Atlantic City is a lost cause in many developers eyes.

Marty Small may not be the best candidate, but Langford has been a negative impact on Atlantic City government in my eyes. Tayoun has great ideas, but is a longshot and the pending lawsuit is something I do not take kindly to as a tax payer. Small would offer new ideas and I know Marty is a huge Sports Betting advocate, which might be the 1 addition to the Atlantic City Gamblin circuit that could save the City.

JOhN EDWARDS - LOWLIFE OF THE YEAR

For some reason cancer survivor Elizabeth Edwards, the wife of former Presidential candidate John Edwards, who cheated on her and had a love child with another woman, has made the rounds on every talk show in a pathetic showing of her own life. John Edwards, a dirty Trial Lawyer, has always had that "Used Car Salesman" look to him, although looking at the two walking together recently, I have to say Elizabeth Edwards looks old enough to be John Edwards' mother. Of course John Edwards propped his wife up during the Presidential campaign and Elizabeth Edwards was also a liar as she knew about the affair, but kept up with the charade of Edwards's Presidential campaign, which clearly hurt Hillary Clinton.

KING'S 10-POINT PLAN FOR A SUCCESSFUL BASEBALL TEAM

10. CHANGE TEAM NAME

The AC Surf team name must go to rid the community of the bad aura the team left behind. Gamblers, Jackpot or Seagulls are new names that come to mind.

9. NEEDS ATLANTIC CITY FEEL FROM EMPLOYEE PERSPECTIVE

The new management fired many people with local flavor. There clearly should be an Atlantic City-feel to hiring people, who would have the passion to go the extra yard, knowing how much a team can bring together a community if done correctly.

8. MORE FIREWORKS, CONCERTS, PLAYGROUND FOR KIDS, TVS AROUND THE STADIUM TO SEE MLB  GAMES

Like the Lakewood Blue Claws with 14 fireworks shows every Friday night, more events like postgame fireworks and concerts are needed. The field should be utilized more for local games like High School or Atlantic County Baseball League games either before or after games. Make people who prefer to watch Major League Baseball comfortable by having the MLB Package with TV Monitors located around the stadium.

7. All Monday-Thursday games must be give-away days. Even if it's a keychain.

6. Must get the Casinos involved instead of them snubbing their noses at the team. Every night of the week should be a certain Casino's Night, where they purchase a block of tickets to give away to their employees, who would be honored between innings. It is bizarre that the CRDA built the stadium, but the casinos acted as if the Surf were nonexistent.

5. Must ease the traffic burden on Albany Avenue, even if that means parking people on the Expressway or uptown and having Shuttlebuses drive them into the stadium.

4. Need Legitimate Baseball. Either a New York, Philly or Baltimore Major League Baseball affilation would give the baseball legitimacy.  The leagues the Surf were in, where the goal is to get to a MLB-minor league team, doesn't thrill me.

3.  Players and Coaches Need to have Local Flair. Like with the hirings of Mitch Williams and Greg Luzinski, having a local flavor would be a huge help. The Manager and players should have a Delaware Valley marketing appeal.

2. The Atlantic City communities directly connected to the stadium need to make an impact on daily attendance for the Surf to work. In particular, the neightborhoods of Chelsea Heights, Ventnor Heights and Chelsea in Atlantic City need to show up in force every single night. I am thinking 500 fans per night from those 3 areas. The team did not, but must reach out to the local community by giving them free and discounted game tickets. They need to walk from door to door in these neighborhoods and make the Surf a presence locally. Just running Newspaper, TV and Radio ads doesn't get it done in Atlantic City.

1. The Surf Shuttle begins, where passengers will be given a weekday discount tickets voucher and free transportation to the stadium. There are 3 ways of accomplishing this. A. Designate "Surf Jitneys" from 5 p.m. to 11 pm on game days. B. Work something out with New Jersey Transit for trips directly to the stadium starting from Wildwood and Mays Landing. C. Utilize vehicles through an advertising trade to bring the fans to the stadium.

HOPE AND CHANGE? LOOSE CHANGE IS ALL I HAVE LEFT

President Barack Obama signed the 410 Billion Spending Bill. It quickly went from being called a stimulus bill to being called a spending bill. The Hope and Change Plan will net me personally 10 quarters, 10 dimes, 10 nickels and 500 pennies per week according to the new Obama tax plan to give us $13 per week. 410 Bill and I get $13 a week?  What happened to no porkbarrel projects Barack? Some have counted almost 9,000 earmarks at the time when the country is enduring a financial hardship. Let us hope we can recognize our country in 4 years.

LANGFORD VS. SMALL IN JUNE LIKE ALI-FRAZIER?

Atlantic City Councilman Marty Small announced he is running for Mayor of the City. Small will challenge incumbent Mayor Lorenzo Langford in the June Democratic Primary. Small appeared on the Hurley In The Morning Show Thursday, the day before Friday’s public announcement. Small is passionate about moving the city forward, but this should be like an old-fashion heavyweight political fight.

ATLANTIC CITY BUDGET: TAXES RAISED AGAIN

April 8 City Council has scheduled a public hearing on the current budget, which was announced Wednesday at the council meeting and raises expenses 3 percent and the tax levy to 13%. I would like to thank Councilmen John Schultz, George Tibbett and Dennis Mason for voting against the tax cap increase from 2.5% to 3.5% that the Mayor and Council are putting on the city’s homeowners.

MANY CITY WORKERS QUESTIONED

A grand jury probe into an ongoing investigation of the city’s CDBG (the Community Development Block Program) is underway in Trenton. Testimony is slated to continue on until next week with many current and former Atlantic City officials subpoenaed to appear.

More bad news as each casino was down more than 20% in revenue for the month of February. Borgota announced this week it will be shutting down 800 Water Club rooms on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until further notice.

A-10 BASKETBALL

King Arthur attended Wednesday night’s games of the Atlantic 10 Basketball Tournament held in Atlantic City at Boardwalk Hall with the finals being held tonight at 6pm and televised on ESPN 2. It was an absolute great venue to see a game, but here's my beef.

I bought a burger, some nachos and a large soda. Well, there were no lids or straws for the drinks. You mean I pay $4 for a soda and they can't afford a lid or straw? I was thinking what kind of a operation is this?

CHRIS BROWN BACK OUT OF KIDS AWARDS

R and B singer Chris Brown withdrew his name as a nominee for the March 28th Kids’ Choice Awards. Brown brutally attacked girlfriend Rhianna on the eve of the Grammy Awards and was arrested. Thank God someone had enough sense in the Brown camp and backed out. What a disgrace it would have been if he was there at the Kids Choice Awards after beating his up girlfriend. It has been reported that Rhianna and Chris Brown are back together as a couple even though there was a restraining order in place.

QUICK THOUGHTS

INK PEN

I heard the term "Ink Pen" used the other day. OK I know we have many different types of pens, but it’s like saying can I borrow that lead pencil. Just say pencil. Or Just say Pen. I may actually correct the next person that says INK PEN to me.

HELLO HELLO

Telemarketers drive me crazy. The ones I hate the most are Phone Solicitors, who follow a Hello response with a Hello response YIKES.

You answer the phone by saying HELLO. You don't respond to Hello with Hello on the phone.

SUZIE STUPID

Am I the only person who thinks Financial Advisor Suzie Orman is an idiot. Every time I have heard this woman talk, she makes no sense whatsoever. Susie Orman doesn’t have a clue.

AROD and THE LIST

The anonymous steriod user list Alex Rodriguez was on contains over 100 other names. It finally became clear this week that ARod is as untrustworthy a baseball player as he was a husband. How could you leave a gorgeous wife like that for a lowlife like Madonna. Then he gets dumped by Madonna, what a loser.

Michael Phelps did a dumb thing. Maybe that is just what he needed to be scared straight.

DOOM AND GLOOM

Do you think if we didn't have such doom and gloom reporting every day by the media, that maybe that country's confidence would increase?

Reading how bad it is everyday isn't helping. No, I don't want reporters to sugarcoat the facts either and be straight with us. You would think by reading this stuff that there would be bread and cheese lines all over the country rather than American citizens being more concerned about getting the latest enhancement to their cell phones than paying their mortgages or eating.

Quite frankly, it is exhausting to read daily how bad everything is. No one ever said things come easily. Hard work, dedication to your craft, believing in yourself and the country leads to prosperity.

NO MORE PLANES OR BOATS FOR KING ARTHUR

Canada Geese and Ice caused 2 commercial planes to go down during 2009. The Buffalo Crash this week killing 50. It will be all-ground travel for King Arthur and John Madden until further notice.

ACES TRAINS A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY

The Press of Atlantic City Editorial Today about the ACES Trains couldn't be any more wrong.

The idea of a luxury train going from New York to Atlantic City would be a great idea if not for several simple concepts.

1. ACES Trains only run 3 days per week.

2. They do not sell RoundTrip tickets. So you have to buy 2 one ways.

3. The price is too costly. The minimum ticket is $50 and goes up to $99 for a 1-way seat.

Greyhound Bus roundtrip tickets from New York to AC are $35 each. When the casino bus lands typically the establishment gives back the bus patrons between $15 and $20 each.

4. The trip actually takes longer than a bus rider with no traffic.

5. CRDA is wasting money here. It could easily be spending money on a million other projects to enhance Atlantic City or how about using some of that money for property tax relief.

Borgata, Caesars and Harrahs sinking 15M over 3 years to get a few hundred extra passengers each weekend is illogical at best.

6. High Rollers are not taking a train over here, they will arrive via Limosine as usual.

2-4-2009 "BACK ON THE AIR IN 2009"

After a super 2008 version, The 2009 debut of The King Arthur Show is slated to commence Sunday at 5 pm on February 15th on WIBG 1020 and www.wibg.com.

How did I get the name King Arthur? I spent most of my free time as a youngster attempting to win radio-station contests. Most of the contests had to do with trivia of some kind, so I always had my regular and yearly encyclopedias laid out on the bed, then on my 11th Birthday, I received my dream gift, "The Baseball Encyclopedia."

I continued to win everything from all the stations, then the local sports talk show had a sports trivia contest, where you would play head-to-head vs. someone else over the phone. I had a clear advantage pre-Internet as I could look something up via encyclopedia as fast as anyone.

When it got down to the quarterfinal round, the event was held Live at the former Sands Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. Could I remember anything without the benefit of the books?

At 13 years old, I won it all, received a trophy that I still possess, defeating 30 and 40-year-old men, who lived through the trivia questions that I only read about. The King of Sports Trivia, here I am.

It was 9-11-2001, while working in New York City for the Daily Racing Form, when I found out there was much more to life than the winning team or horse. I became more aware of everything around me after 9-11. Still in shock, that innocent Americans were slaughtered just 3 blocks from my office. While, sports is my 1st love, the world’s current events supercede the winning teams anymore. I am watching way more FoxNews than ESPN.

The King Arthur Radio Show will be entertaining and informative. We give you the local outlook on politics, sports and break the news, asking you to make the switch at 5pm to WIBG 1020 (www.wibg.com).

The WIBG 1020 programming schedule for 2009 continues to improve in dramatic fashion with several excellent new shows on the agenda. King Arthur adds an extra day of the week after broadcasting during the Sunday 5-6 pm slot from August-to-November, 2008.

We will bring you the best in NewsTalk and Information with constant updates from the WIBG 1020 NewsTeam. Live And Local at 5. Join Us!

9-11 ALL BUT FORGOTTEN

I feel People are being way too complacent right now about what happened at the World Trade Center in 2001. On 9-11-2001 the U.S.A was Attacked on our home soild. Don't anyone ever forget that. If it happened once, it could happen again. Thank God we have been safe since under the leadership of the much-maligned President Bush, who helped make the world a better place by elimating the sick dictator Saddam Hussein.

J-WALKING: YES IN OCEAN CITY, BUT NO IN ATLANTIC CITY?

Jay-Walking is a crime in Atlantic City, but is encouraged everywhere else. It's funny you can get a ticket in AC for crossing the street before the light says to go, but in communities right next to AC like in Ventnor, Margate. Longport and Ocean City, pedestrians are actually encouraged to walk in front of cars. And there is a state law that states pedestrians have the right of way. I would fight any J-Walking ticket I get in AC. Way to attract tourists. Give them tickets for buying overpriced stuff on Atlantic Avenue.

TROY AIKMAN MUST GO!

I am sick of Eagles-Hater and former Dallas QB Fox Announcer Troy Aikman always being so negative about the Eagles. Next season, I am turning the sound down when Aikman is on.

PRESEASON TURMOIL LEADS TO POOR SEASON

I called this one in pre-season, after getting rid of Brett Favre, I knew the Green Bay Packers will be lucky to be a .500 team this year. You don't go through all that turmoil in pre-season and think it will have no affect on the regular season.  Remember the Tee-Oh McNabb preseason sopa opera and the nightmare season that followed for the Eagles. T.O. is bringing a brand new level of drama to Dallas this year. Funny stuff.

LIGHT SENTENCE FOR GAME FIXING REF

For fixing NBA games, former referee Tim Donahey only gets 13 months in the slammer? And probably in a white-collar jail bragging on how he made all those fake foul calls so he could collect blood money. Considering the millions of dollars that he may been liable for losing from legal wagers and his actions with mobsters, 13 months time served is a disgrace.

FAST FOOD IS S-L-O-W FOOD

The lack of hustle in Fast Food restaurants has made it become Slow Food. The stuff is so cheap, I find myself fast fooding it way too much. When you have to wait at least 15 minutes for the junk it is Slow Food. There should be a time limit from the time you order until the time you get it. Like you get a free apple pie if you have to wait more than 15 minutes.

CAN I GET A BLACK COFFEE PLEASE?

Everything is specialized today. I went to the supermarket and quickly grabbed a bottle of Pepsi and Hawaii Punch. I guess I wasn't paying attention, because when I returned home I noticed I had selected "Holliday Spice" Pepsi and "Wild Citrus Guava" Hawaii Punch. There are like 8 different kinds of M and Ms now. We just have too many choices these days.
